Family Services

Respite, community support & personal-care aides for children and youth to age 17 — and the backup that caregivers need.

Overview

Raising a child with a developmental disability takes a strong support network. Family Services helps children and youth up to age 17 build relationships, take part in their community and grow — while giving parents and caregivers the respite they need.

What's included

  • Respite — short-term in-home or out-of-home hourly support that gives caregivers a break.
  • Community Support — a Child & Youth Worker takes your child out to enjoy activities.
  • Personal Care Aide — hands-on help with hygiene and daily care.
  • Youth Night OUT & Summer Day Camps — social fun for ages 10–17.
  • Behaviour Consultation — evidence-based strategies for parents.

Understanding the funding (FSCD)

Most supports are funded through Alberta's Family Support for Children with Disabilities program. To receive respite, your child needs a current FSCD agreement. New to FSCD? Call (780) 427-4354 (option 3) — we're happy to help.

How it works

  1. Call (780) 458-7371 and ask for the Supervisor, Family Supports.
  2. Confirm (or apply for) your child's FSCD agreement.
  3. We match your family with the right worker and supports.
  4. Support begins.
